Upper Sugarloaf Residents Association (USRA) was formed to advocate for our island residents and protect our island from corporate overreach.
Our Mission
Upper Sugarloaf will remain a low-density, primarily residential community, with a strong social fabric. We protect, preserve, and enjoy our natural environment, wildlife, open spaces and unique recreational opportunities. Our community cherishes conservation and recreation land and the strict growth management regulations. We seek to guide commercial development to provide the needs of our island community and enhance our quality of life. Ultimately, we strive to manage and control growth and preserve the environment. (adopted 11/5/15)
Our Meetings are held at 6 pm, the second Thursday of every month at the Sugarloaf Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 260 Crane Boulevard, Upper Sugarloaf Key.
The election of officers is held every February.

Our Current Goals
- Stop the placement of a 199 ft. communications tower in the middle of our residential island community. We have enough towers surrounding us!
- Advocate for the speedy completion of the 4 mile Sugarloaf section of the Overseas Heritage Trail.
- Provide stewardship of our National Key Deer Refuge, Upper Sugarloaf Trail and the Great White Heron National Wildlife Refuge
- Partner with like minded organizations to inform, educate and provide insight to our members.
